Rayne Oak Meadow Nature Reserve

Welcome to Oak Meadow Nature Reserve.

The reserve is located in Rayne, Essex and is accessible from the Flitch Way or from Gore Road in Rayne.

April 2014 Update

The pond work is now finished and we have three ponds filled to their target levels already and a continually flowing stream running to the North East pond from the large central pond. Our thanks go to Philip Stacey and Shane for persisting until the end despite some interruptions.

The Friends of the Flitch Way have constructed two wooden bridges over the woodland stream on the east boundary of the site making the woodland walk much more accessible. Ramps have been added to the bridges to make them more accessible.

The site has been prepared for the pond dipping platform and materials have been delivered. The Friends of the Flitch Way will be building the platform when their busy schedule allows.

Urban Forestry who carried out work to our trees last year and built and installed the benches and stools have returned to clear away the fallen tree which blocked the woodland path when it came down in the October storm

Future activities through the spring include creation of graphics for interpretation boards and their installation, support for school projects and some more tidy up work.
